To read Andhra Prabha Daily and Andhra Prabha Illustrated Weekly on the net, the browsers should install a compatible Telugu Font on their computer.

The required Telugu Font is a free download from our site. And anybody can download it from here

The download and Installation procedure of this Telugu Font is very simple and easy. It is a one-time procedure and once the browser installs this font on his/her computer,  he/she can browse the Andhra Prabha site for unlimited time in Telugu Language.

The name of the Telugu font which we are supplying from this site is APNEWS. It is a TTF or True Type Font compatible to Microsoft Windows 95/98 and NT. The font comes as a file called "APNEWS.TTF"

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

1. When you click here on the link to download the font.....

2.  You'll get a file dialog box which will ask you to specify the location to store the APNews.TTF file.

You have to store the font file (APNEWS.TTF) in your computer's FONTS directory / folder.

In general, the name of the fonts folder will be -

C:/WINDOWS/FONTS on Windows 95 or Windows 98 systems.
C:/WINNT/FONTS on Windows NT systems.

Check out for the Fonts Directory / Folder of your Computer.

3.  If you know the location of your Computer's Fonts Directory / Folder, then specify that location.

APNews.TTF file will be downloaded into that Fonts Directory / Folder and will be Installed.

Shut down your system once and restart - Now you can read your favourite Telugu Daily and Weekly Online!

4.  If you don't know the name of your Computer's Fonts Directory / Folder, then choose any directory / folder and remember that folder's name (better write it down on paper).

The APNews.TTF file will be downloaded into that Directory/Folder and will NOT be Installed.

Now you have to Install the Font:

Goto Settings from START button. Select Control Panel.

Double click on Fonts Icon. Select "Install New Font..." option in the File Menu.

An "Add Fonts" dialog will appear. Choose the Directory/Folder where you have downloaded the APNews.TTF font.

Select the APNews.TTF from the List of Fonts and Click OK.

The Font is installed.

Shut down your system once and restart - Now you can read your favourite Telugu Daily and Weekly Online!

HOW TO KNOW WHETHER THE FONT IS INSTALLED?

To check whether the font is installed, open any word processor or the Notepad, and see the APNEWS is displayed in the fonts list there. If it is not there, try to install the font again.

If you're getting a message like "apnews.exe is not a valid win32 application", do the following.

Actually, it is "apnews.ttf" not "apnews.exe". Your browser, or some other software may have changed the extension as ".exe".

Change the file extension as ".ttf". It'll work!

A Note to IE 5.0 Browsers

Internet Explorer 5.0 is not showing the Telugu Font properly. Just now we've recognised the problem and we are on the way to find a permanent solution.

To get Telugu Characters for the time being in IE 5.0, you have to do the following:

Right click on the browser, in the content area,
Goto Encoding option.
Select "User Defined" option.

Do the same for all pages, every time.

Please bear with us until we rectify the problem.

Special Note to NT users: We are getting some complaints that the APNEWS.TTF font is forcing Windows NT Machines to shutdown. Install this font on NT machines at your own risk.
